A Word from the Mayor

“If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I daydream in music. I see my life in terms of music,” said Albert Einstein.

Music education offers far more than the joy of creating music. It instills invaluable values, awakens curiosity, encourages exploration, and contributes to the development of character and personality. I believe in education in all its forms and dimensions, and in Kiryat Ono, music education is led by the Aaron Elkalai Conservatory - an institution renowned not only in Kiryat Ono, but throughout Israel and even around the world.

Our conservatory, a source of great pride for the city, has spent many years nurturing generations of musicians, many of whom have gone on to become renowned figures in the world of music. Today, it continues to educate and inspire children and young people from kindergarten through high school, offering individual instruction on a wide range of instruments, participation in musical ensembles, and music education in the city’s elementary schools as part of the “Musical School” program, as well as the 5-unit music matriculation program with a recital component.

As residents of the city, we have the privilege of enjoying the fruits of their creativity through moving performances at municipal ceremonies, heartwarming concerts by various chamber ensembles, and collaborations in recent years with artists such as Miri Mesika and Shimi Tavori. At the “Shell” concert, our young musicians have the opportunity to perform, gain exposure, and receive the warm embrace of the entire community. Over the years, our representative youth orchestra has also embarked on musical journeys and participated in international festivals, proudly representing Kiryat Ono on the world stage.

My thanks go to all the members of the Association for Music Education, to Bar Yoel, Chair of the Board of Directors, and especially to those who lead this wonderful educational, professional, and artistic musical journey - Guy Feder and Bar Armon. I am deeply appreciative of all their work, which comes from the very depths of their souls. Together with them, I am delighted that very soon the entire conservatory will move into its new home, featuring offices, new practice and teaching spaces, and a dignified, modern, and professional concert hall that will undoubtedly expand the range of concerts offered, to the delight of our students and the city’s music lovers.

My personal thanks go to everyone who contributed to creating a unique home for culture in our city.
