The Kiryat Ono Conservatory was established by Aharon Alkalay in 1962, after nearly 20 years of music teaching in primary education as the foundation for music education system in Kiryat-Ono.
The Conservatory is officially recognized by the Ministry of Education in Israel and have been in its supervision ever since. Our alumni play in the most important orchestras in Israel like The Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra, The Jerusalem Symphonic Orchestra, The Israeli Chamber Orchestra etc.
At present, there about 300 students from Kiryat Ono and neighboring suburbs enrolled in the Conservatory. Additionally, the Conservatory operates projects for music introduction for more than 600 students in 6 elementary schools.
The Kiryat Ono Youth Concert Band consists of about 35 youngsters between the age of 13 to 18 and has been under the direction of Maestro Guy Feder since 2002.
The band provides an important educational and cultural framework for youngsters of the area. Its wide and varied repertoire includes International, light and classical items, Israeli compositions, and traditional Jewish music.
The 2023 Bavaria tour is the 28th tour of the Kiryat Ono Youth Concert Band. The band was performed globally in many international festivals and competitions, and also made concatenations in the diaspora Jewish communities.
Our Special Projects
“Sounds of Brothers”
Together with the wealth care authorities, we are giving scholarships to students with special needs and disabilities. But in order to empower those students’ siblings too, we also give them the same scholarship to learn in our institution.
Alumni Orchestra
Since the 1973 an orchestra of The Kiryat-Ono Alumni is operating in our school. The orchestra meets once a week and gives between 5-7 concerts per year. The players ages is from 23 to 83 years old and the have different kinds occupations, but they all share their love for music and for the Conservatory.
“Primary School plays”
This project meets 600 students in the age of 7-9 with the art of playing a music instrument. The conservatory’s teachers teach strings and winds instruments in 6 different primary schools. The young students also experience playing in orchestra and in the end of the year they have the opportunity to play together with the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra in Tel Aviv.
